Madrid, Spain, May 21, 2026.– Hamburg (Germany) will write a new chapter in the history of World Triathlon by hosting, from September 8 to 12, 2027, the first-ever T50 Final of the new Triathlon World Tour. The event is particularly significant because the 2027 edition will mark a turning point for the sport.

The current World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) will debut its new identity under the name T50, becoming fully integrated into the new Triathlon World Tour, the ambitious project driven by World Triathlon and the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) to redefine the future of professional triathlon.

As a result, the Hamburg event will crown the first world champions of the new era of triathlon in the Olympic distance and will bring to a close a season set to redefine the international calendar of the sport.

More than 16,000 participants and 500,000 spectators

In this context, the Hamburg Final will once again confirm its global dimension, with more than 500,000 spectators expected throughout the competition week. The event is also expected to welcome over 16,000 participants, together with coaches, officials, and guests from more than 70 countries, once again consolidating the German city as one of the most iconic and largest venues on the international calendar.

World Triathlon President Antonio Arimany highlighted the selection of Hamburg to host the first Final of the T50 calendar: “Hamburg’s relationship with triathlon is one of the longest-standing and most valued in our sport. Since first hosting the World Championship in 2007, the city has demonstrated time and again an extraordinary commitment to triathlon, delivering world-class events that are highly appreciated by athletes, fans, and partners alike.”

Arimany also emphasized the strategic importance of this Final within the new international competitive model: “We are extremely pleased with the selection of Hamburg as host of the 2027 World Triathlon Championship Finals, an event of enormous significance, as it will be the first Championship Final to be held as part of the highly anticipated Triathlon World Tour — the most exciting chapter in the history of our sport. I am confident it will set a benchmark in event organisation for everyone.”

The German event will also coincide with the 25th anniversary of the traditional Open Races of the SUZUKI World Triathlon Hamburg presented by HAMBURG WASSER, which will continue to form part of the programme alongside the elite competitions, further consolidating a true mass participation festival around triathlon.

What is the Triathlon World Tour?

The Triathlon World Tour is the new global triathlon circuit that, from 2027 onwards, will integrate the current T100 Triathlon World Tour, the World Triathlon Championship Series, and the World Cups, bringing together for the first time the leading competitions on the international calendar under a single brand, a unified sporting structure, and a global commercial platform.

The project has been created with the aim of evolving towards a more modern, commercially attractive, and less fragmented model capable of accelerating the international growth of triathlon and increasing its global media impact. In addition, the new circuit includes significant investment in the development of an enhanced audiovisual product, with live broadcasts throughout the year, seeking to substantially strengthen the worldwide visibility of triathlon and open a new era for the sport on an international scale.
