Live action from the ‘Fast And Furious’ T1 Indoor Triathlon World Cup available this Saturday
It will consist of a 200m swim, 2,8km bike and 1km run
The first T1 Indoor Triathlon World Cup will be broadcast live on Eurosport 2 across Western Europe and TNT Sports 4 in the UK and Ireland, with streaming on Max and discovery+ from 2030 CET this Saturday, 22 March.
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) will show the ‘fast and furious’ action on its channel and platforms for the first time, in a 90-minute live programme that will show the pro women’s and men’s A and B finals. Commentary will come from former British Olympic triathlete Vicky Holland and popular sports broadcaster Matt Baker.
Scott Young, Group SVP, Content, Production and Business Operations at WBD Sports Europe, said: “This exciting new indoor event will add another dynamic offering to the positive momentum we’ve seen with the PTO’s T100 events over the past seasons. Our coverage is the latest step in a year-long approach to telling the story of these remarkable athletes, which supports our continued mission to grow the sport of triathlon by helping it reach new and larger audiences.”
The T1 Indoor Triathlon World Cup is a collaboration between the PTO, World Triathlon and Lievin Triathlon Club, with the event being part of the World Triathlon World Cup circuit.
It will consist of a 200m swim, 2,8km bike and 1km run – and uniquely takes place entirely live and indoors, with a specially built 25m pool situated within a 200m oval track, where the bike and leg segments are done. The racing action is the fastest in the sport – with the leading athletes taking less than 10 minutes to complete the course.
“The fact that the Lievin event has achieved so much momentum in such a short space of time is testament to the electrifying atmosphere and excitement it creates, both in the stadium and for those watching at home,” said World Triathlon President-elect Antonio F. Arimany. “The broadcast product this year will be the best yet and the TV audience the biggest, with the fans favourite and Olympic Champion Cassandre Beaugrand ready to raise the roof. The future for this enthralling format looks incredibly bright as we continue to develop our partnership with PTO.”
Paris 2024 Olympic champion and home favourite, Cassandre Beaugrand, makes her first start of the season in the pro women’s event. Any hopes that she will not be in top shape following a memorable 2024 season have already been obliterated by her recent French 5km road record.
In the pro men’s event, Hayden Wilde will be one of many making his Lievin debut as he looks to maintain his perfect winning start to 2025 – before stepping up next month to make his T100 debut in Singapore. A winner at WTCS Hamburg in 2023, which was contested over the super sprint eliminator format, Wilde has proven himself over the shorter distances. With speed to burn, he will arrive as the favourite.
More details on the event, including the full pro women’s and men’s start lists, can be found here.
The 90-minute programme will also be live on the PTO’s T100 YouTube channel and PTO+. Fans will also be able to stream the event live on L’Equipe’s website in France as well as watch the racing live from the Semi Finals onwards on TriathlonLive.tv and the World Triathlon YouTube channel.
