Giro Unveils Eclipse Pro Aero Road Helmet for 2026:  Wind-Tunnel Tested Speed, Advanced Cooling, and Mips  Spherical Protection

Giro’s fastest professional road cycling helmet sets a new benchmark for aerodynamic  efficiency, ventilation, and race-day protection.

Irvine, CA — Giro Sport Design today announces the launch of the Eclipse Pro, a next generation aero road cycling helmet engineered for elite racing, high-speed endurance riding, and WorldTour-level performance. Developed for today’s fastest riders and most demanding race environments, the Eclipse Pro represents the most advanced aero road helmet Giro has ever produced. Combining refined aerodynamic shaping, breakthrough ventilation, and Giro’s Spherical powered by Mips® impact protection delivers unmatched speed, cooling, and rider confidence.

Developed in Giro’s in-house R&D laboratory and wind-tunnel facility, the Eclipse Pro is the result of extensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, iterative clay shaping, and full-scale wind-tunnel validation. The new silhouette optimizes airflow across critical boundary layers while maintaining the lightweight feel and balanced ventilation required for long  endurance days, high-intensity training, and decisive race-day efforts.

Early testing and competition with WorldTour athletes and elite domestic racers have confirmed  measurable gains in aerodynamic efficiency, thermal regulation, and all-day comfort, positioning the Eclipse Pro as Giro’s fastest aero road helmet to date.

Proven at the Highest Level of Racing

The Eclipse Pro has already earned its place at the top of the podium across road, gravel, and cross-country disciplines:

● Pauline Ferrand-Prévot — General Classification Winner, 2025 Tour de France  Femmes avec Zwift

● Wout Van Aert — Stage 21 Winner (Montmartre), 2025 Tour de France

● Jonas Vingegaard — General Classification Winner, 2025 La Vuelta a España

● Team Visma | Lease a Bike — Team Classification Winner, 2025 Tour de France

● Alessandra Keller — XCM World Champion, 2025 UCI World Championships (Valais, Switzerland)

● Kate Courtney — XCM World Champion, 2025 UCI World Championships (Valais,  Switzerland) and 1st Place & Women’s Course Record, 2025 Leadville Trail 100 (Colorado)

Across more races, in more disciplines, and at higher speeds than any previous Giro helmet, the Eclipse Pro has already proven itself as a true race-winning platform.

Designed for Speed, Engineered for All-Day Riding

The Eclipse Pro’s aerodynamic form is the direct outcome of thousands of simulations and physical test iterations. The updated profile smooths airflow across key transition zones while maintaining stability in high-yaw conditions, delivering the lightweight feel and balanced ventilation riders expect for long endurance days, high-intensity training, and race-day peak efforts.

Despite its aggressive aero profile, the Eclipse Pro remains exceptionally balanced for all-day comfort, making it equally effective for criterium racing, grand-tour mountain stages, and long range endurance training.

Breakthrough Ventilation Without Aero Compromise

Through a newly engineered internal channeling architecture, the Eclipse Pro delivers class leading cooling without sacrificing aerodynamic performance. Air is actively guided through  deep, structured intake ports and across the rider’s scalp to manage heat buildup on steep climbs, in warm conditions, and during sustained high-output efforts, solving one of the most  significant challenges traditionally associated with aero helmets.

Advanced Protection and Signature Giro Fit

Safety and fit are foundational to the Eclipse Pro’s performance advantage. The helmet  integrates Spherical powered by Mips® technology, providing advanced rotational impact  protection for real-world crash dynamics. A reinforced polycarbonate shell extends further around the EPS liner to increase durability and coverage where riders need it most.

Fit is delivered through Giro’s Roc Loc® 5.5 Air system, offering micro-adjustable stability with exceptional comfort at a class-leading weight. Helmet Weight: 280 grams (Size Medium).

Built with World-Class Athletes, Engineered to Win

From the earliest R&D sketches by Giro designers Ash Lewin and Garrett Tollette to the final wind-tunnel validation sessions, the Eclipse Pro was shaped through continuous collaboration between engineers and professional athletes. Early ride impressions highlight a rare combination of high-speed stability, quiet airflow, and sustained cooling performance at race intensity.

Giro will provide accredited cycling media with early-season access to the Eclipse Pro for  review, fostering anticipation and excitement. A complete media kit, including launch imagery, technical assets, and full product specifications, will be available at launch. The dedicated Eclipse Pro page will go live on December 19, 2025, to encourage early consumer engagement and interest.
