Beeline revolutionises navigation for cyclists again with major feature update

Since their inception in 2015, bike navigation innovators Beeline have been obsessed with making every bike ride the best it can be

Routing and navigation experts Beeline are rolling out a number of new updates to their Beeline app and Velo 2 cycle GPS device.

A focus on user-oriented design

Since their inception in 2015, bike navigation innovators Beeline have been obsessed with making every bike ride the best it can be.

They have announced a series of updates to their Velo 2 device, enhancing both the ride experience and overall performance.

  • Ride planning becomes even easier and enjoyable with advanced hill profiling, improved route following, and enhanced audio navigation, with more focus on the road ahead and celebrating those successes in the saddle.
  • Komoot integration brings a world of exploration and discovery right into the heart of the Beeline app.
  • Beeline customers explore the world in all weathers and conditions. Velo 2 devices will now be sold with an included black silicone case to enhance its performance in the elements.
  • A new Protection Pack, with a range of colourful silicone cases and custom screen protector, will be available to buy for all customers. Velo 2 is now life-ready come rain or shine; in the city or on the trails.

Conquer hills with confidence

Introducing a revolutionary hill profile feature – Climb View – where riders can now visualise upcoming hills on their route. This feature displays a detailed elevation profile, showing the rider their current position, the remaining distance, and the colour-coded hill gradient.

This allows for better pacing and preparation, transforming challenging climbs into manageable accomplishments. And with a few surprises for when you reach the summit.

Seamless komoot integration

Beeline users can now effortlessly sync their planned and favourite routes from komoot directly to their Beeline device or app. This integration simplifies route planning and allows riders to leverage komoot’s extensive library of curated routes and community-driven insights, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable riding experience.

Enhanced route following with GPX breadcrumb routes

Beeline have enhanced their route following capabilities, allowing riders to load and follow GPX routes with reassuring accuracy. This ensures riders stay on their intended path, even in complex or remote areas, perfect for off road and downhill cyclists. Additionally, the new update enables users to start recording their ride directly from their Velo 2 device, streamlining the riding experience.

Audio guidance is now free to everyone

Beeline are committed to making navigation accessible to all riders. As part of this update, audio turn-by-turn instructions are now available to all users on the free tier of the Beeline app. This feature provides clear and concise directions, allowing riders to keep their eyes on the road and focus on the joy of riding.

Key features of the update

  • Climb View: Visualise upcoming hills with detailed elevation data
  • Komoot integration: Seamlessly sync planned routes from komoot
  • Breadcrumb GPX route following: Follow precise GPX routes with enhanced accuracy
  • Free audio instructions: Enjoy turn-by-turn audio guidance on the free app tier

“We’re thrilled to introduce these significant updates to our platform. Our goal is to provide riders with the tools they need to explore confidently and enjoy their journeys.
