British Cycling & Kalas reveal GB kit for the road to Paris
British Cycling and Kalas Sportswear has revealed three new race kit and training wear designs to be worn by the Great Britain Cycling Team as they ramp up their preparations for next year’s UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The white racing design has been modified to incorporate a blue stripe into the iconic GBR panel, with the team’s ‘inspire the nation’ mantra emblazoned along the inside collar. In addition to the popular blue training range, a new, striking neon yellow option has been designed in consultation with the team.
British Cycling first partnered with the Czech-based custom cycle wear specialists in 2017, with a key focus on enhanced aerodynamic performance, innovative fabric combinations and unrivalled track and wind tunnel testing. The partnership was extended for a further four years in February 2021.
Great Britain Cycling Team Performance Director, Stephen Park CBE, said: “We have enjoyed working closely with the team at Kalas since 2017, and really value the collaborative approach to supporting the needs of our riders and helping them to be as fast and comfortable on the bike as they can be.
“The new, neon training option designed in response to feedback from our riders is another great example of this, and I know that the team at Kalas are continuing to work closely with us to progress further innovations in fabric, design and aerodynamics.
“From speaking to our riders I know just how much pride they feel every time they pull on the Great Britain Cycling Team jersey, and like fans across the country I can’t wait to watch them continue to top podiums, inspire the nation and give it their all in this latest iteration.”
Kalas Head of Marketing, František Raboň, said: “It’s always an honour to work closely with the athletes and coaches of the Great Britain Cycling Team. Not only do we want them to be kitted-out in our finest products to help them perform to the best of their ability, but we also want them to proudly enjoy wearing their colours when racing and training too.
“Before we finalised the new design, we surveyed the riders to ask what changes they wanted to see incorporated. One of the things that was highlighted in their feedback was the desire to be more visible when training on the road. That’s where we got the inspiration for the new neon yellow additions to the training collection.”
Through the partnership British Cycling members and clubs gain exclusive discounts on the brand’s extensive range of custom clothing, including the current offer of £15 off every purchase of more than £150 through their online store.
