Le Col to provide apparel for Race Across America record attempt

Le Col, performance cycling apparel brand, joins forces with American duo Colin O’Brady and Lucas Clarke as they set their sights on the prestigious Race Across America Record and aim to go SUB6.

The Race Across America sits at the pinnacle of ultra endurance sport. Spanning a jaw dropping 3,064 miles across the entire continent, riders also have to contend with a staggering 130,696 feet of elevation gain. Coming in close to 1000 miles longer than this year’s Tour de France, this truly is a Herculean feat. With the clock continually ticking, Colin and Lucas will have their work cut out to smash the current record of 6 days, 11 hours.

The goal of the SUB6 project is to not just break the world record but to smash it, completing the Race Across America in less than 6 days and knocking a whopping 11 hours from the current fastest time. Friends since first grade, Colin and Lucas’ friendship and passion for adventure have both stood the test of time. With a constant eye for adventure, Colin O’Brady is a world famous and record breaking explorer, best selling author, TV host, Hollywood producer, and former professional triathlete. Bringing cycling credentials to the team, Lucas Clarke is a three time UCI master track cycling world champion, single-speed Unbound gravel winner and self proclaimed aero nerd. Put simply, the aim of SUB6 is to inspire others to take on their own adventures with those they love and unlock their fullest potential.

Naturally, a huge part of going fast is being comfortable on the bike and cutting through the wind.  Colin and Lucas have selected British brand Le Col as their performance apparel partner of choice, offering the perfect blend of science-based aerodynamic design, alongside comfort. Depending on conditions out on the road, they will be utilising Le Col’s skinsuits and speedsuits as they look to eke out every advantage. Designed in collaboration with world-leading aerodynamicists from McLaren Racing and optimised for the World-Tour for BORA – hansgrohe, Le Col are producers of Grand Tour winning performance cycling apparel.

Colin O’Brady said:“We are so excited to get to work with an industry-leading brand like Le Col. We need kit that performs and their kit does exactly that. We can’t wait to unveil our design too. Thanks to Le Col we’re not only going to be fast, we’re going to look cool whilst doing it!”

Lucas Clarke said: “In a lifetime of cycling I’ve had the opportunity to try many different kit providers and it was immediately clear that Le Col’s offering was the real deal. Working with a company that shares in my own passion for performance is incredible and their credentials speak for themselves”.
