Muc-Off partner with INEOS BRITANNIA in pursuit of America’s Cup victory
Muc-Off, the world leader in bicycle care and performance, is thrilled to announce its latest partnership with the INEOS BRITANNIA Sailing Team, currently competing in the sport’s flagship event: The America’s Cup. Building on its 30-year history of innovation at the pinnacle of cycling, Muc-Off is now extending its high-performance drivetrain optimisation expertise to the high seas.
The INEOS BRITANNIA team, driven by a relentless pursuit of competition, innovation and excellence, shares a common ethos with Muc-Off. The collaboration aims to leverage Muc-Off’s pioneering technologies, including their acclaimed chain optimisation process—originally developed for road racing—to enhance the performance of the Britannia team’s Cyclors, the athletes who pedal stationary bikes to generate hydraulic power for the boat’s hydrofoils and sails.
A bespoke performance program was created for the Brackley based team which included drivetrain optimisation alongside the development of a chain lube created specifically for INEOS BRITANNIA so as to ensure that frictional losses were minimised and power delivery to the boat was maximised. This transfer of technology from bike to boat highlights Muc-Off’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible at the height of competitive sport.
“We are incredibly proud to have joined forces with INEOS BRITANNIA. Our experience in elite bike racing has shown us the immense benefits of continuous innovation and marginal gains. We are pleased to see our expertise translate effectively into sailing, helping the Britannia team as they strive for success in the America’s Cup for the first time in its 173-year history,” said Alex Trimnell, CEO at Muc-Off.
Over the last 30 years, Muc-Off’s performance programs have been instrumental in delivering results at the highest levels of competitive cycling, including Ten Grand Tour Wins, Six Olympic gold medals, and three individual hour records. Muc-Off can now add the Louis Vuitton Cup to the list, and the team look forward to supporting INEOS BRITANNIA at the 37th America’s Cup this month.
“Muc-Off’s approach to innovation and their proven track record in cycling make them the perfect partner for us as we compete in the America’s Cup. Their expertise in optimising performance will be invaluable as we continue to refine our boat and equipment. We look forward to achieving great things together,” said Matthew Jayaraman, Lead Engineer, Cockpit & Drivetrain at INEOS BRITANNIA.
This strategic partnership underscores Muc-Off’s versatile approach to innovation and technology, as the brand aim to bring their cycling success to the competitive world of sailing, setting new standards for performance and efficiency.
