Street Child and Plume join forces for the #PlumeStrong Cycling Challenge 2023
Street Child has announced its second-year partnership with Plume for the highly anticipated #PlumeStrong Cycling Challenge 2023 (‘#PSCC23’).
What began as a friendly competition and camaraderie-building initiative among Plume’s employees (affectionately known as ‘Plumians’) has evolved into a powerful corporate social responsibility program aimed at fostering equitable opportunities for marginalised and vulnerable communities.
Last year’s #PSCC22, held in Switzerland, witnessed over 50 participants cycling an impressive 675 km route with nearly 11,000 m of elevation, raising €250,000. All of the funds raised were used by Street Child and Plume to establish eight inclusive Learning Hubs, providing safe access to education programs for refugee children in Ukraine and Moldova.
This year, Street Child and Plume are raising the target even higher to exceed last year’s fundraising total. The funds generated from this event will allow Plume to play a pivotal role in Street Child’s ongoing response to the Turkey-Syria earthquake, supporting thousands of children deeply affected by this devastating event. Our primary focus is on reconstructing schools within the education sector, which suffered severe damage. By doing so, we aim to restore access to education, creating a safe space for children to heal from trauma and rebuild their lives.
“Following the success of last year’s event and charitable initiative we set ourselves a new mission, to come back stronger with a tougher cycling challenge with the aim of doubling last year’s fundraising achievement,” said Fahri Diner, Founder and CEO of Plume. “We’re honoured to partner with Street Child with every Euro raised providing educational support for children who are rebuilding their lives in extremely difficult circumstances.”
The #PlumeStrong Cycling Challenge 2023 will be held from the 4th through the 8th of September, starting in Zurich, Switzerland, and ending in Nice, France. Covering a distance of 774.4 km, this year’s event expects the participation of over 50 dedicated riders. We are excited that two-time Tour de France winner and #PlumeStrong ambassador, Tadej Pogačar, will lead the riders and take part in stage 5 of the event. Additionally, Tadej will engage in an enlightening “Ask Me Anything/AMA” session, providing a unique opportunity for interaction with participants.
Through our collaboration with Plume, we continue to facilitate impactful initiatives for positive change, ensuring the most vulnerable children are safe, in school and learning.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Plume for a second year, building on the success of our impact in Ukraine and Moldova which established access to safe learning spaces. In the aftermath of the devastating Turkey-Syria Earthquake, the generous support of Plume led to the construction of five prefabricated spaces. #PSCC23 will expand this response, rebuilding the lives of children through education, which was so severely disrupted.” said Lucinda Dannatt, Director- Development & Policy; Co-founder, Street Child.
