The leader jerseys of La Vuelta 2023 and the special kits signed by Santini
Santini Cycling Wear and Unipublic presented the official leader jerseys for La Vuelta 23 at the Zarzuela Racecourse in Madrid.
Also unveiled were three kits, signed by Santini and dedicated to three significant stages of the Spanish race, an event of the UCI World Tour calendar scheduled from 26 August to 17 September 2023.
“The partnership that we have established with La Vuelta is now in its seventh year. This confirms our constant commitment in professional cycling,” commented Monica Santini, CEO of Santini Cycling Wear,”and we celebrate it today by presenting the jerseys to be worn by the champions of the 2023 edition.”
“These jerseys are the hallmark of La Vuelta and they not only represent four classifications but also culture, cities and emblematic climbs around the race” added Javier Guillén, general manager of La Vuelta.
The official jerseys of the 2023 edition, designed and manufactured entirely in the Santini’s Italian factory using highly-technical fabrics, are the Red Jersey, sponsored by Carrefour for the leader of the general classification, the Green, with the Škoda logo for the best points classification, the Plenitude-branded White jersey which will go to the best young rider, and the polka dot jersey jersey, sponsored by Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, which will crown the King of the Mountain.
As well as the official jerseys, every year Santini creates “collector’s” kits dedicated to certain stages of La Vuelta, intended for the many passionate amateurs of the Spanish race. These cycling kits are made up of a jersey, bib-shorts and a baselayer, and for each one there is also a cotton t-shirt with the kit’s graphics.
The first kit coincides with the first stage of La Vuelta 23 which takes place in Barcelona: it is here that the time trial challenge will be held ant it will kick off this year’s edition on 26 August. The kit, designed by Santini, is in black, blue and purple with graphics that recall the vibrant personality of the famous Spanish city. There’s also the icon of a stopwatch, to indicate the time trial test of the first day.
The ascent of Angliru has become legendary in recent editions of La Vuelta and in the cycling world as a whole. A climb of 12 kilometres, with slopes exceeding 20%, it is considered one of the most demanding in the world. Dedicated to this climb and to the seventeenth stage of La Vuelta, the Santini kit comes in various shades of green, recalling the forests that characterise the Asturias region. The garments feature elements that recall the ascent and the Cross of Victory, emblem of the region, with an alpha and an omega placed under the horizontal arms.
The finish line of La Vuelta 23 is in Madrid , a city celebrated by the Santini kit dedicated to this last stage. It features two elements that represent the city and in particular the Puerta del Sol square: the coat of arms of the city, the famous bear with the strawberry tree, and the plaque indicating the Kilómetro Cero, i.e. the starting point in the city of the roads that lead to the most important places in Spain.
Replicas of the leader jerseys and the three special kits are available for purchase online on the Santini website (www.santinicycling.com) and in specialised cycling shops around the world.
