Van Rysel launches its new range of road cycling helmets
VAN RYSEL has launched its new range of road cycling helmets. This range features three new models, all designed to cater to the specific needs of cyclists, from amateurs to professionals: meet the RCR, the FCR and the XCR.
The Van Rysel new range offers modern design, delivering higher performances and even more safety.
RCR Helmet : The Air Jet
The RCR helmet has been designed for cyclists looking for a lightweight design with optimal ventilation. With its innovative design, using ultra-lightweight materials, the RCR features 8 large air intake points with 7 output points: unfaltering comfort, even on long rides. Its ventilated structure allows for exceptional air flow, keeping the cyclist’s head cool and dry, no matter the weather conditions.
Intelligent variable ventilation
The RCR’s ventilation system has been strategically designed to adapt to the cyclist’s position. This means that the helmet can keep the cyclist cooler during ascents in the vertical position, without creating drag during descents at full speed.
Lightweight helmet
Weighing in at just 270g, the RCR helmet is so light that riders may well forget they’re even wearing it. It’s perfect for tackling high elevation and long distances, as well as quick rides out on hilly terrain.
Protection you can rely on
This helmet has been designed with a key priority in mind: rider safety. It complies with the globally recognised European safety standard EN1078. Its fit is adjusted with a dial mechanism that’s easy to use, even while cycling.
Casque FCR : The Aero
The FCR helmet is the ideal solution for cyclists with their sights set on high performance. Developed with a particular focus on aerodynamics, the FCR reduces wind resistance and maximises speed, without compromising on safety or comfort. This helmet is perfect for races and intense training, offering a major advantage when it comes to performances.
Unrivalled aerodynamics
When it comes to racing, it can all come down to a single watt. This is why this aerodynamic helmet has been put through its paces with rigorous wind tunnel testing by Swiss Side, a partner of VAN RYSEL and DECATHLON AG2R LA MONDIALE.
Delivering optimal air flow and minimal drag, this aerodynamic helmet has been designed for dedicated cyclists who don’t want to compromise on their performances.
Lightweight and ventilated helmet
Weighing in at just 290g, the FCR helmet combines both excellent ventilation and a lightweight design thanks to its In-Mould structure.
The 5 air intake points with 3 deep internal channels means that it avoids a few excess grams and degrees Celsius. The FCR’s air intake points have been positioned in high pressure zones, where they won’t affect the helmet’s aerodynamics.
Flip and Clip system
The FCR helmet was designed in parallel with the PERF 900 and PERF 900 Light cycling glasses, offering cyclists an ingenious attachment system. The glasses’ legs fit perfectly to the helmet and stay securely in place, regardless of the speed or terrain, even when flying over the infamous cobbled paths of Northern France in the Paris-Roubaix.
Casque XCR : The WaTTest
The XCR helmet delivers peak aerodynamics, specially designed for going up against the clock, when every second matters. Developed using digital simulations and wind tunnel testing, the XCR minimises aerodynamic drag and optimises each watt generated by the cyclist. Its pioneering design means that cyclists can shave precious seconds off their ride times, giving them a sharp competitive edge in races.
The ultimate aerodynamics
Designed in collaboration with the aerodynamics experts at Swiss Side, this helmet has been meticulously developed to deliver extremely high performances, even when up against headwind and angles of up to 10°, as well as speeds of 45 km/h and above. The higher the speed, the closer the wind impact gets to 0°, regardless of its direction or force. This helmet has been optimised for use with aerobars when the cyclist’s head is positioned looking straight ahead.
Ventilation
Studies and insight from professional cyclists have confirmed that keeping the body, and more particularly the head, cool is an important factor for good performances. So, the ventilation of this helmet has been meticulously designed with a system of removable covers. Positioned in a high-pressure zone, they create an air flow that won’t impact the helmet’s aerodynamic performances.
Interchangeable visors
The XCR helmet comes with two high-performance magnetic visors (categories 0 and 3). You can also remove the visor to easily attach it to the top of the helmet at the end of a race.
Secure your Success
In order for a helmet to be approved by European standards, it has to complete and pass 6 random impact tests.
Here at VAN RYSEL, safety isn’t something that can be left to change and we hold our products to the strictest standards, going above and beyond the European requirements. A helmet is only approved by our design team once it has successfully passed testing with 40 to 60 impacts. That’s 10 times more than the European standard requirement.
MIPS® Technology
The range also features a MIPS® version of the RCR and FCR models. The MIPS® Air Node technology, which is the most lightweight, incorporates a low-friction layer that helps to reduce any rotational movement transmitted to the head in the event of certain oblique impacts.
“We’re delighted to unveil this new helmet range, which reflects our unwavering commitment to cyclists’ safety and performance”, announces Nicolas PIERRON, Founder and CEO of VAN RYSEL. “Each model has been developed with strong characteristics that will meet the needs of different types of cyclists, from passionate amateurs to elite athletes, such as those on the three DECATHLON AG2R LA MONDIALE teams.”
The FCR, worn by professional cyclists, will also be available for general sale from 17 June 2024, and the full RCR and FCR range is now available at DECATHLON, both in stores and online. The XCR model will be released in September 2024.
