Ventete introduce the Ventete aH-1 micro-collapsible helmet

Ventete, an invention company dedicated to contemporary movement, has launch of its groundbreaking product, the Ventete aH-1 micro-collapsible helmet.

Designed in the UK and made in Switzerland with uncompromising attention to detail, the Ventete aH-1 helmet is the certified result of ten years of relentless development and rigorous testing. The Ventete aH-1 micro-collapsible helmet has been released to general public purchase for £350. Pop-up stores and other events will be announced on Instagram: @ventete.

Take a Deep Breath

At the heart of the Ventete aH-1 helmet is the company’s multi-patented pneumatic structural system, which utilises pressurised air instead of the foams typically used in helmet construction. This innovative technology not only providessuperior impact protection and breathability, but also enables the helmet to fold flat to a size that is smaller than a laptop. It means the Ventete aH-1 can be easily stored and transported, allowing riders to always have head protection at the ready.

This first meaningful divergence from conventional helmet materials sees Ventete propel the progression of helmet technology forward—from leather to foam and now to air—to align with the evolving needs of modern riders in search of unmatched convenience, elevated aesthetics, and unparalleled safety performance.

Ventete: Inspiring and Elevating the Diversity of Movement

The landscape of urban mobility has undergone a radical transformation over the past decade. First it was the rise of ride-sharing, and now it is e-bikes and scooters, which have led to a surge in spontaneous and active transportation choices. As these new behaviours in the mobility landscape have taken hold, traditional bicycle helmets have struggled to keep pace with how people get around.

Reflecting on Ventete’s journey, co-founder Colin Herperger stated, “It all started with a simple question: ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could have a helmet that could fold down like a piece of origami and fit in your pocket?’” Herperger continued, “Within Ventete, we have a fundamental interest in where culture is moving to and what events trigger such movement. Intriguingly, we couldn’t have fully anticipated the societal shifts in transportation when we set out to design this helmet ten years ago. What we did know, however, was that we wanted to elevate and build confidence around the everyday experience of movement—to inspire people to move freely and confidently without compromise.”

1. Innovating for Convenience

When not in use, the Ventete aH-1 helmet reduces in size by 90% for easy storage and portability. Smaller than a laptop and taking up less than 10% of the space in a backpack or messenger bag, this helmet can be easily carried and stored, thereby allowing considered commuters the convenience and portability as they manage their intercity movements.

Inflating and deflating the helmet is incredibly simple. In collaboration with Fumpa Pumps, each Ventete aH-1 helmet includes a Fumpa x Ventete USB-C rechargeable mini-pump, which inflates the helmet in less than 30 seconds via a standard presta valve (identical to most bike tyres). The patented on-helmet pressure indicator system provides a precise reading of safe operating pressure. Deflating the helmet is equally as simple and quick, which folds to just 3.5cm in less than 30 seconds.

2. Confidence in Quality: Multi-Patented Pneumatic Structural System

The Ventete aH-1 helmet has been extensively tested and refined over nearly a decade by a team of architects and engineers focused on materials science, mechanical engineering, and user experience. During this development process, the Ventete team pioneered industry-first innovations in high-frequency fabric welding and textiles, ultimately leading to the creation of its patented pneumatic structural system.

The pneumatic structural system provides the Ventete aH-1 helmet with its shock absorption capacity and allows for greater impact absorption and structural compression depth compared to conventional foam helmets. Rigorous testing of the Ventete aH-1 helmet shows that it exceeds the safety requirements of the CE/UKCA safety certification (EN1078) and additional independent testing at HeadLab (Imperial College London) demonstrates that the helmet is significantly better than foam helmets at mitigating linear and rotational impacts, a leading cause of traumatic brain injury in accidents.

3. Enhanced Ventilation: Like Riding With Nothing At All

Designed with the utmost breathability in mind, the Ventete aH-1’s chambered design ensures the helmet rests lightly on the head while allowing for continuous and unbroken airflow. Unlike conventional helmets built of insulative foam, the pneumatic structure allows the heat to dissipate with incredible efficiency into the surrounding environment. Empirical testing at EMPA (Swiss Federal Lab for Material Science) shows that the convective cooling performance of the Ventete aH-1 is not only superior to foam helmets, but also reaches the cooling values of the bare head, making it as cool as riding with nothing at all.[1]

Enabling Urban Mobility

The Ventete aH-1 Micro-Collapsible Helmet is the first product in Ventete’s lineup of high-performance, technical products that elevate the extraordinary in the ordinary.
