The Fauniera Mountain Road, the Cycling Legend, needs help
The Col Fauniera, the historic mountain, legend of cycling and of the international Granfondo La Fausto Coppi Officine Mattio – which is scheduled for Sunday 30 June with departure and arrival in Cuneo, where over two thousand cyclists are expected to arrive from all over the world – needs the help of all mountain lovers.
An extraordinary spring with abundant late snowfall has only a few days ago made it possible to start work on restoring the route that climbs from Castelmagno to Demonte. At the moment, the Fauniera pass is closed. The route must be opened and made safe, the ASD Fausto Coppi on the road has found itself faced with an emergency.
In agreement with the municipalities of Castelmagno and Demonte, and with the collaboration of the administrator of the Rifugio Fauniera (Fauniera Refuge), ASD Fausto Coppi on the road immediately made itself available to have the snow removed from Castelmagno to the Esischie pass. Now, however, it is necessary to get to the top of the Fauniera 2481 metres, to give Castelmagno and Demonte the chance to proceed with the extraordinary maintenance work.
For the road to be reopened, it will also be necessary to use the road sweeper to remove gravel, sand, debris, small stones, as well as to close potholes and fix depressions in the asphalt.
For this reason, the association makes an appeal and asks for the support of all mountains and cycling enthusiasts.
